Voices in the Trees

“My Muses,” boomed a voice, seeming to fly from the trees, as though birds were suddenly able to speak.”I see you have found her.”

“Yes, she is finally here, my lord,” replied Calliope, staring into the trees reverentially.

“She is quite the beauty,” said another voice, this one feminine, but seemingly strong.”Though younger than I had imagined.”

“Yes, lady,” said Thalia, bowing her head slightly.

Two lithe bodies, glistening in the moonlight came into view. The first was male, tall and strong, his golden hair curling gently. He seemed to be surrounded by a glow of light, though that might be only a trick of the fire. His body was in full view, not impeded by any mark of civilization, and she could see that he was well-built,in every meaning of the phrase.

The other was a woman, equally tall and seemingly as strong. Her hair was cut short,as though by her own hand.Across her back was a bow and arrows. Her robes flowed down to her knees as though made of water. She was a goddess in every possible way.
