Strange Normalities: Bold Suggestion

“Wait a moment, sir,” a small voice in the back piped up. Everyone turned around to stare at the owner, myself included. It was Dan, a lanky semi-know-it-all who never drew attention to himself lest he lose high esteem with every school official.
“What is it?” our instructor barked. Dan shifted uncomfortably in his seat.
“What was it that Julie wrote? I mean, if it was outlandish, we should all hear it so we don’t make her mistake later.” The oaf thought about it. While he was turned around, I gave this Dan a confused look. He didn’t return one; in fact, he looked at anything that wasn’t me. Personally, I don’t blame him.
“Well, okay. So let this be a lesson to you all!” our instructor boomed. “Never defy your superiors! Understood?” A general murmur of “yes” followed his words. “And you!” he roared, pointed to me, “You will go to the office! And you!” he continued, pointing to a now-terrified Dan, “You will escort her there!” Surprisingly, he looked relieved. Then the instructor began to read.
