Songs & Signs?
She poured water into a pot and let it boil. She changed the song to 42 by Coldplay. The depressing lyrics and melody at the beginning tried to take over again, and she closed her eyes as she let the mood sink in. But the abrupt change in the melody went to a determined, rockier setting. She opened her eyes and breathed. She was so easily influenced by her music as she let this new pissed off determination sink in as well. She let the song play out while she waited to put the noodles in. She always had her ipod on shuffle and Violet Hill came on next. It caught her off guard as she’d just played that song. It made her think about a friend of hers, as it was that Violet Hill was “their song”. Was God trying to tell her something about him? Some sort of sign? She quickly pushed the notion out of her head and she stirred the noodles. Silly she thought. It’s just a song. Yet the idea kept bugging her. She focused harder on the mac & cheese, for right then, she wanted to be alone.
