The Mail-Order Bride
“Congradulations, man!” someone called out. Matt turned around- his best man, Bryan, was marching towards the newlyweds.
“Natalie, I’ll be right back, okay?” he said. She nodded, smiling, and Matt turned to greet his best friend.
“Let’s walk, Bryan,” Matt said, and together the men walked towards the street, away from the crowd gathered outside the church.
“Do you have the money?” Bryan asked.
“Yeah, you’ll give it to him for me?” Matt asked as he pulled a wad of cash out of his pocket.
“Yeah, man, no problem,” Bryan replied. Matt handed the wad over to him. “I’m happy for you, man.”
“Yeah,” Matt said, sighing. “Let’s just hope this girl is going to be okay. I can’t believe I had to take it to this point. You know my parents, though. There is no way Ryan was getting married before me. It’s worth it, right?” Bryan put a hand on his friend’s shoulder.
“You and your sibling rivalry,” he said. “And yes, she is worth all two-hundred dollars.” Bryan smiled, and then disappeared down the street.
