The drive to the hospital was unnimaginably long.
Its funny how things go by teribly slowly when you’re anticipating something, good, or bad.
I was bracing myself for the worst, but at the same time hoping so intensly for the best.
Knowing that I may never see him again, never talk to him, never know what he would have said killed me.
Suddenly every rude gesture I had ever made, every unkind thing I had ever said, every time I pushed him to his limits flew back at me so hard I couldnt catch my breath.
As soon as the car came to a stop I thrust the door open and yanked my mother behind me through the wide rectangular door.
She guided me to the emergency room waiting area.
Theres no comfort in the waiting room.
Looking around the only thing I saw was faces twisted in expressions ranging from agony, to devestation, to relief.
As soon as I saw her, I knew. a nurse, holding a clipboard slowly walked over.
“Mrs. Evans?”
My moms head snapped up.
“Yes.”
“I’m so sorry… we lost him.”
Oh god no…
