The Birthday

He took my hand and pulled me further down the beach. I began to worry. Our school would be leaving soon and I wasn’t about to spend the night at the ocean.
“Don’t worry Chrissy, I know where I’m going,” he assured me. I still wasn’t buying it. I know he’s been here four times but I kept thinking that he was going to get lost.
We turned and I saw where he intended to lead me. A few yards away was a pile of huge boulders. Some of the boulders were large enough to hold ten people and a large table. We climbed over some rocks that were smooth and round. I noticed some other classmates of ours sitting on rocks talking or kissing. I suddenly felt uncomforatble and slightly antsy. We finally reached a rock that was just big enough for the two of us. We sat down and he draped his arm over my shoulders.
“My parents came here on their first date.” he said. I smiled. This was a perfect place for teenagers to come and hide from the world. Erik leaned forward and kissed me softly. “Happy Birthday.”
