People picking on Rohn really started when he had a phone out in History and Mr. McAllister tried to take it away. When asked to give up the device, Rohn replied “What phone?” and hid it behind his back.

By the time the teacher had the phone, everyone was watching and laughing at Rohn. Poor Rohn, I thought but covered up my true feelings with smiles and laughter like the rest of the class.

At recess, in the weeks following, so many people provoked John to fight. Caleb dropped a dodgeball on his head from above on the playground equipment and it did, in fact, set Rohn off.

I will never forget when we had recess in the gym and something bad happened between Rohn and Eric Sanderson. I swear, it was just like you see fights in cartoons. It was the swirling ball of color and fists and the two looked like a tornado. As I remember it, it took at least three teachers to break up the fight but the worst was yet to come…
