Twelve in the afternoon, business was slow, and boring.
I slipped out in the back during my break to enjoy the fresh day. Right before I took a bit of my bagel, Trey jumped out and scared me. “Gah! God, don’t do that! Jerk!â€?
He laughed, “Jeez Kit, I didn’t know you would freak out. I thought you were one of those calm types. You know, ones that don’t threat to throw drinks in people’s face?â€?
“Whatever you say, Trey. Just whatever.â€?
“Oh come on, you know I was just playing around. Now, about today, I’ve got a plan. But you have to get out of work.â€?
I sighed, “I can’t just leave.â€?
“I dare you to.â€?
“Trey, that’s extremely stupid. You’re acting like a little kid.â€?
“I knew you wouldn’t do it.â€? He was secretly smirking behind his hand.
“Oh really? Well, in that case.â€? I walked toward him. “You gonna help me?â€? We headed for the back fence and Trey helped me get over it. After that, it was just us.
