Time for Me to Fly 31
Inside the box was a ring. It was beautiful. I put it on my finger and it fit perfectly. The inscription said “True Love Waits.” It was a purity ring. Something that I had been dying to get for weeks, but had had no money to afford it. The cool thing about the ring was that it spun. I spun it a few times and sighed. It was perfect.
My phone vibrated.
“You like?”
“I love it. Thank you so much…” Oh my gosh, was I seriously going to cry? Wow. When did I turn into such a big softie?
I slid out of my bunk and stood up. I was suprised to see him already waiting. Everyone else was asleep.
“It fits?” He asked looking at my ring finger where I had put it. I nodded. I felt that ridiculous lump in my throat and decided talking wouldn’t be a good idea right about now.
“Remember that time we snuck out of your room and tried to sneak into your parents?” He was grinning.
I swallowed the lump. “Yeah, the thunderstorm really freaked us out. I remember our plan was to sneak into their bed without them noticing.”
