Drama King
I gaped at Trey, trying to get his attention but he wouldn’t look at me. “Trey.â? I hissed but he shushed me.
We settled in the grass but I stayed far from Trey and his so-called dad. Dad? This is some crazy stuff. How could his dad not see him for a couple years? That doesn’t make any sense.
“Look, we really need to go. Sorry to be on your land.â? Trey stood up and reached for my hand. I took his reluctantly and then he was running.
“Trey! Wait!â? the man yelled after him but he didn’t try to run. He knew he wouldn’t make it. In fact, I was having trouble keeping up.
“Trey, slow down!â? I yelled at him and he slowed to a walk. He still wouldn’t look at me. “Okay, what is going on?â?
His voice was a hard and bitter whisper. “This wasn’t how your surprise was supposed to work. But I always swim in the lake because you know, its cool and no one is ever around. And there normally isn’t ever anyone, especially not him.â?
“What’s wrong with him?â? He didn’t reply. “Are you going to explain or be Drama King?”
