The Discovery (alternate ending)

“Two months?” Marten felt the world fall out from under him as the words hung in the air.
“Yes Mr. Gregar,” the nurse replied sweetly, ignoring the shock on Marten’s face.
Marten sat up, ignoring the pain in his side, and began to pull the drips out of his arm.
“I wouldn’t do that Mr. Gregar, you won’t like what you find out there…,” the nurse said sternly, and for the first time, didn’t smile.
“I don’t care,” Marten said quickly, “I need to know what happened in the two months I was here!”
Marten ran toward the door of the hospital, knocking over two medical workers in the process. He heard the nurse screaming his name. People were moving toward him, trying to keep him from escaping the medical bay. The exit door was in reach. It was so close that he could feel the hot air behind. Fingers grabbed at his shoulders, trying to pull him back. His hands met the cold steel of the door as he pushed with all his might.
“Oh no…,” he whispered, sinking to his knees.
He was outside … but in a prison camp.
