Peripheral Evil: Part 20 A Conversation Between Fathers

Walking from the temple, Jim and Scott gave in to meaningless conversation. Scott absently thumbed the empty spot on his finger where the ring had been seated for so long.

“I can’t believe you thought changing your names would keep them from coming,” Jim chided.

Scott shrugged, “Seemed like a good idea at the time. Charlotte’s charms, incantations and what nots.” He shook his head and sighed, “I guess I should have just stayed at the compound. Let them train him right.”

“Nah, Scott,” Jim tried to comfort, “We had to be certain the vision would come. We just got lucky when it came to Rosalyn so early. Girls are different.”

Scott snorted, “Tell me about it. You saw Kara. Power went straight to her head.” He rubbed his forehead exasperated, “I can’t protect her any more. She’ll be eighteen, a legal adult, in two days. They’ll kill her.”

Jim stopped walking, “She definitely won’t be invited to any women’s luncheon, but I don’t think they’ll kill her.”

Scott cocked his brow, “You have met my wife, right?”
