Figure It Out
The sun was shining bright as I reached the park to meet up with Trey. This would be my first worry-free day in a while and it was just what I needed; to be with him.
But, apparently worry-free conversations weren’t on Trey’s agenda. We were walking around the park together when Trey stopped and settled on a bench. I joined him slowly, knowing this was the moment to come clean or lie more.
“Kit,â? Trey began, “it’s just that I know … I just know something is going on with Jack that you’re not telling me. Why aren’t you telling me?â?
“Why don’t you believe when I say there’s nothing?â? Truthfully, I was glad he was going with what he thought.
“That doesn’t answer my question. But I can just see how … um afraid you are of him.â?
I gaped at him, horrorstruck. “I am not afraid of him! He’s just a jerk with some kind of issue!â?
“Calm down, Kit. I’m just trying to figure out what he did to you.â?
“It’s nothing.â? He waited for me to continue, knowing I would. “He only…” but someone was walking toward us.
