I love that you took THX ’s note about the Baroness being a large woman, and simply sprinted with the idea. Beautifully told, and you kept THX ’s original style, which is a feat in and of itself, at least for us “writers” cursed with mere mortal abilities.
I think his original ficlet kind of stood on its own, but you’ve definitely created a world here that opens up myriad possibilites. A testament to your ability to bring your characters to life, and make us pine for more.

Ooh, I love that it opens a quest for the maid and with mysterious instructions, no less! I know John Perkins is being complimentary to me in his comments, but I can’t help but feel there’s a little bit of a poke along with it. Lovely, lovely little ficlet, taking the character and playing her up.

The line about the curtsy made me smile.

And the descriptions, characters, all of it was great.
