End of the Night
“It is,” Clara answered.
Jen was a hopeless romantic anda sucker for sappy stories: started out as childhood friends, turned into high school sweethearts, ended up married happily ever after.
“You guys make such a cute couple. I always knew it. You guys are like, always together. It’s about time,” Jen said, giggling.
Clara looked at Walt and nearly burst out laughing. Them date? Not for real. If only Jen knew.
“Thanks for everything,” Walt said, standing up.
He and Clara made their way out.
“Well that was something,” Walt said, raising his eyebrows.
“She will most definitely be checking out the page,” Clara said knowingly.
She and Walt stopped for ice cream and strolled along lazily.
“This seems like a date, but doesn’t feel like one,” Clara said.
Walt stayed silent.
“You’re my best friend,” Clara said. “Just wanted to say.” They bumped fists.
Walt walked Clara all the way to her house and watched as she waved then shut the door behind her.
To Walt’s surprise, he really wished he’d gotten a good night kiss.
