A moment of beauty
In an instant the snow globe shattered sending a colourful splash of water, glitter and plastic across the dirty city sidewalk. It had been an accidental slip of Clara’s hand, but the result was understatedly beautiful – much like Clara herself. She took a moment to admire her creation before reaching into her purse and handing the irate storeman twice what the globe was once worth.
Clara knelt down and calmly picked up the small white fawn that had once been encased in the globe and dried it on her skirt before tucking it into her purse and continuing on her way.
The city was buzzing with cars and people rushing all around. Clara was in stark contrast to most people there. They all had places to be, whereas Clara was right where she was supposed to be.
Smiling – she made her way back to her apartment where she tied her newly-purchased rope to a rafter, stood on a chair and placed the rope around her neck. Holding the fawn she took one final breath and stepped off the chair.
