The Real Reason For Lunch
Anna replied ‘sure,’ as calmly as she could knowing that that was the same place she’d seen Lance yesterday. The morning went on as usual. When Anna got to the restaurant Jack already had a table waiting for them. He smiled and waved her over. Finally after sitting down with their food and their drinks, Jack said something.
“So what really happened?” he asked obviously trying to control hisself.
“What are you talking abo-”
“I’m talking about if you lied to me, then what really happened with you and Lance.” he said clenching his teeth. Anna couldn’t tell if he was mad for her lying to him, or the fact that Taylor was Lance’s child. Either way she didn’t think this was a good topic of conversation.
“I don’t thin-”
“Anna, this isn’t one of those ‘tell me if you feel like it’ things. This is one of those ‘tell me because I love you and I have a right to know what happened. Especially if I’m going to help raise the child’ sort of things. Anna couldn’t argue with that.
