Let It Go

Suddenly she felt Jack’s hand on her cheek.
“Don’t cry,” he said softly. She wiped away a tear and when she looked back at Jack, the look was gone. She felt stupid frantically searching his face trying to find even the smallest trace of it, but it was no use. She would just have to savor that moment for the rest of her life. Jack rubbed his thumb across her cheek, and it reminded her of what she was going to tell him before he knocked the breath out of her.
“Jack, I want…no I need you to do something for me,”
Jack didn’t say anything as his blue eyes continued to study her. Anna took his silence as a response to go on.
“I need you to just let this go,” she said quietly. Jack shook his head, “Can’t.”
“Jack please I-”
“Anna, no.” Jack’s face was firm. Anna scooted her chair back and they both finished their lunches. Walking back to the newspaper shop, Anna brought it up again.
“Why can’t you just let it go? I mean it happened to me and even I have forgotten a little bit,”
