A Bit of Blue
Someone was coming. She closed her eyes and let her head fall to the side, mocking sleep.
“Miss Morningside, please, I’m a doctor. I can tell the difference between a sleeping patient and a smart one.” She opened her eyes and looked at him, annoyance in her eyes.
“Morningtide.”
He looked up from the clipboard at her, blinking behind his thick glasses. “Excuse me?”
“My name is Everley Morningtide. Not Morningside.”
He checked the clipboard, which she assumed was her file, and smiled. “I see it is, I apologize for my mistake.” He then noticed the IV needle. “You removed your IV. May I ask why?”
Ever Nodded, glad that he had been so polite. “Whatever you were giving was clouding my vision, making it and my mind fuzzy.”
“Did you every consider thats the reason you were given it?”
“I did.”
They stared at each other for a moment, aged and soft blue eyes looking into the much younger and harsher amber ones. Then he smiled and nodded, an acceptance of some kind.
“I am Dr. Phillip Rodney. I’ll be your physician.”
