Death showing the way.

Eddie wiped sweat from his brow as he worked feverishly to stopped the bleeding. I knealt over Julius, his eyes staring right through me.
“He’s going, mang,” Jose said, preparing an epi pen, “I’ve seen it a thousand times, bro!”
“I’m not going to give up!” Eddie said. His hands quaked as he wiped a wet-bulb off the tip of his nose.
I touched his shoulder, “Calm, Eddie. It’s almost over,”
My hand past through him. Eddie’s hands steadied.
“Just give me the pen!” he ordered.
“Ok, if you say so,” Jose complied.
Julius’ ethereal soul struggled. He would not let go.
“It’s just a matter of time,” i said to him, “Let loose. It will all be fine. The pain will be gone,”
“It’s not working!” Eddie cried.
“I told you, man” Jose said as the EKG flatlined. The flat-tone was a lonely sound amidst crackling plastic and vinyl sheets.
“That’s two in one night, Jose! This place is going to hell in a handbasket”
I placed my hand over Julius and took his hand as he shed his mortal coil.
“Who are you?” he asked.
