Ignorance Must Burn (Part 4)

“Dear Mei,” he spoke aloud as he wrote his little goodbye.

“Darling, I just wanted to let you know how great this was in the beginning. I had never felt so alive, but now I understand my life is a lie. Love is a lie. This entire world’s foundation is constructed with lies. Like tides on a shore, they wash upon the world day in and day out. Engulfing it, pulling it inward to be lost forever. Well, that won’t be happening to me. Oh no.”

The man paused to stretch and check the time.

His watch was broken, barely hanging together. But despite it being entirely separated from the band and only connected to the back by a thin cord, it still worked. Hours had passed quickly, and it was only now when he realized that he should begin writing his note. A sigh escaped from his being right before he returned to his goodbye letter.
