Ignorance Must Burn (Part 7)

Just as he had wrote, his hand arose with the closed book in hand, and faded into nothingness.

“This is where the story climaxes” he joked, drawing a gun from nowhere. He waved at his former lover and smiled without revealing the gun. She smiled back, confused, or rather ignorant of what had just happened, and what was to come. A yawn came and both his hands stretched into the air, revealing the gun to his wife.

“Don’t do it!” she screamed as he put it against his head, realizing this wasn’t some cruel joke; others looked at her, then looked up as well.

A shot rang through the streets, reflecting off the walls, expanding and echoing, just as the light had done earlier. His body, moist and bloody, quickly toppled over the ledge which he sat upon, descending at a rabid rate. The body, now dead weight, indented the side walk due to the collaboration of the distance and speed at which he had fallen.
