There’s a sense of hope, of fighting back here that works well as a sequel. It’s almost as if she’s resolved to kill that which has been killing her. And if this were Scrabble, you’d totally win for use of the word “quotidian.” ;)
See? you can do poetry! (and you tried to convince us all you couldn’t in the Epic Challenge…) All aside, this is beautiful. And I agree with the comments on the extended vocabulary. I’ve marveled at your word usage many a time in past works, and this is no different. (however, being a devil’s advocate at this moment, in this hypothetical Scrabble game of Ana’s and it was my turn, I’d follow it up with the word “qat.” Real word, it’s an evergreen shrub, I swear!)
