Letter
At home for the night, Chloe McAllister received a letter in the mail. The stationary had butterflies on it. She handled it gingerly, not knowing what to think about such an article. It was postmarked Cairo. Opening the envelope with some trepidation, Chloe began to read.
Dear Miss McAllister,
You have been recommended by your uncle Philander McAllister as an excellent detective. This is what I am writing to you about. I have an assignment for you. As you might have already noticed, I have written from Cairo. You will actually be working in the desert outside of Cairo.
All this is conditionary, of course. If you choose to accept, you will be doing a senile old warrior a great favor.
If you are intrigued by the thought of going to Cairo, please respond accordingly. If you do not believe me, please call one of the public telephones in Cairo and ask for me.
Yours Truly,
Amenemhet II
Chole’s eyebrows shot up of their own accord. Was such a thing really credible? Still, her curiousity was piqued.
