Nice interaction between the two, lots of seething emotion. Since we’re picking up here in a separate ficlet, it might be helpful to indicate that it’s James in that first paragraph. In a longer, sequential thing (like if you had this whole story as a short story on paper) it wouldn’t be necessary, but the format gets you here.

Trey kept it a secret and it just know entered the story.
