Not the only Survivor
As I sat, taking all this in, a thought crossed my mind.
“Hey… Sun? can I call you that?”
The Sun chuckled deeply.
“My original name is impossible for your kind to comprehend in your language, so Sun is just fine.”
I smiled and nodded.
“Well, I was wondering. If Earth was destroyed, how come I’m not dead?”
“Because” the Sun said, his firey eyes gazing into the distance, “I saved most of your race before Earth was destroyed.”
My mouth dropped at the realization that I wasn’t the only one.
“You mean, I’m not the only survivor?”
The sun shook his head.
“There are more…”
“Really? What about my father? Is there any way we can find them?”
The Sun drew a heavy sigh.
“I am afraid that they could be anywhere in the universe.”
“Well, will other stars save them too?”
The Sun’s eyes filled with pain, and met mine.
“Most stars treasure life, in every shape and form…”
My eyes were now glassy, looking desperately into his.
“but some don’t treasure it at all…”
