Anna woke up in the hospital. Of course she hadn’t the slightest clue of how she got there. But that didn’t matter at the moment. She saw her little boy asleep in Jack’s lap in a chair next to her bed. She brushed Taylor’s cheek before laying her hand on Jack’s hand. Jack woke up from her touch, & it took him a second to realize Anna was awake.
He smiled wide with relief.
“Hey,” he breathed.
Anna tried to sit up but that sharp pain quickly returned & she jerked herself back down. Jack looked helpless as he reached for her not knowing what to do.
“I’m fine,” she lied.
Jack laughed, “What’s funny is you actually expect me to believe that.” He layed Taylor down on the small couch next to the window.
“I’ll be right back, I’m gonna go get the nurse.”
“Wait.”
Jack looked at her. “Come here please,” she finished.
He walked over to her worried, “What is it? Are you in pain?”
Anna took his hand to bring him closer. Jack realized what she wanted & he smiled. He stroked her cheek & kissed her gently.
