Discovery
“Oh my God, Kris, come look at this!” Eden shrieked, leaning back on her heels and resisting the urge to slap her cheeks. She stood, slowly, and turned around to face her partner, the other intern in this section of the dig. “Kris, please, don’t let me start jumping and screaming before showing you…” She held her arms rigid at her sides as Kris looked at her over her shoulder.
“What is it that’s got you so riled up?” she mumbled- well, as quietly as a Texan can mumble- pulling her hair into a ponytail as she walked. “Come on, Ede, spit it out!” The look on Eden’s face made her more than a little nervous, so she quickened her pace.
“You won’t believe it. Ohmygod, you’ll just die.” Eden began to hop, slowly at first, but getting quicker.
“Oh… Oh my God in Heaven.” Kris whispered as she knelt on the sun-baked earth, wiping sweat from her forehead. Just as quickly as she’d fallen to her knees, she stood up, screaming.
“Everybody! Hurry! Eden found it! Eden found-” she hesitated for, “Eden!”
