An Unpleasant Discovery [Music Challenge]
A hand pulled her back, and her black hair went flying from the force. She wrenched her wrist away, rubbing at it gingerly.
The singer turned around to face her ex, her amber eyes glowing underneath the street lamp’s lighting. Never again, Tanith thought bitterly. He had finally caught up.
“Tanith,” he panted, “please, just listen to me!”
Tanith shook her head defiantly, gasping for air herself.
“Here’s the thing,” she started, her brow furrowing in anger and sadness. “We started off as friends—but it was all pretend.”
“What? How can you say that?” he exclaimed, brown hair tousled from running too far and too hard.
“How come I’d never hear you say ‘I just wanna be with you?’” she asked, stare burning with intensity. “You had your chance, you blew it.”
His mouth opened again, but Tanith interrupted him again.
“I don’t want to hear it,” she said, turning around.
“You knew exactly what you were doing,” Tanith cried, the tears now streaming full force. “She may believe you, but I never will!”
