Mr. Serling? Is That You?
Thousands of writers shriek as they find that the dark days they had never even dared to think of have come upon them.
Somewhere a young girl, clad only in her Dr. Seuss boxers and an over-sized Batman t-shirt, hears the familiar voice of Rod Serling.
“You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension: a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You’re moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You’ve just crossed over into… the Twilight Zone!”
“What the-”
“Silence!”
The silence stretches on for ages. No longer does the click of the keyboard lull over-caffeinated English buffs to sleep!
The girl suddenly jolts awake. Hesitantly, she starts the computer, immediately going to Ficlets.
All seems normal, untouched. A shudder runs up her spine.
Somewhere, Mr. Serling laughs manically. Was it really a dream? Or was it some sick flight of fancy for Mr. Serling?
Like the fabled center of Tootsie Pop…the world may never know.
