Breaking Up
She threw herself over her bed, sobbing so hard she couldn’t catch her breath.
She went over every detail.
Nothing.
There was no logical reason for what happened.
She played it over like a movie in her mind.
She walked up to him in the hallway as soon as the bell rang.
The hallways were crowded with people anxious to get on the bus to go home.
People talking.
People laughing.
But there he was. Her boyfriend.
“Hey hun! Whats up. I feel like you have been distant from me all day…”
He wouldn’t even look at her.
Almost whispering staring at his feet he said “Listen Meg. I’m breaking up with you.”
In disbelief she said “What?!”
“I’m breaking up with you. I’m really sorry.”
But it was too late. She was running for the stairwell, tears stinging her eyes and burning her cheeks.
Her head was throbbing while she was regretfully thinking “Why would he do that?”
