The Truth About The Past

“Devon. I…”

“Did you kill her?” Tears sprang to her eyes as she was overcome by fear.

“No! I loved your mother! I was there the night that she…” Julian turned away from Devon.

“I couldn’t do it. Trazelli sent me. He knew I was in a relationship with her. I had broken up with Petunia, because I had fallen in love with Melanie, your real mom.
“Trazelli was angry with your mom for leaving him, see, she was his favorite, and a dancer. Oh! Your mom could dance! And she left him. Then she turned up with a baby and said it was Trazelli’s, that you, were his daughter. She demanded money, for you, but she spent it on drugs. He refused.
“I told him about Petunia’s orphanage, that she’d take care of everything. He sent you there. Melanie cried, but she was into drugs, and let you go.
“I couldn’t kill her. I left some pills with her and called Petunia to come sit with her. I started to run, so when Trazelli found out I’d failed, I could be far away from his wrath. Petunia saved me, she gave Melanie the drugs.”
