Heather moved away.She tried to contact me,but after that night I never spoke to her again.Nathan had to walk on crutches for two months,and after that he eventually forgave me. His parents sent him to a psychiatrist.He told me later that he apologized to Heather.I forgave him a long time ago.He encouraged me to talk to Heather again,told me she’d changed. I found it wasn’t as easy to forgive her as it was to forgive Nathan.

I found a substitute for Heather in Jen.She was better than Heather in that I could trust her.And she didn’t judge that I stabbed Nathan with a handsaw.

The morning after it happened,Jen came to my house to ask how I was doing.

“I know it will never be the same between Heather and me again.” I said.

“That’s okay. You finally saw the things she did to you.” she said.

“Yea, but I think of Nathan and I feel so bad.”

“Heather should feel bad, not you. She caused him to go crazy.”

“It’s all over now.” I said.

“I don’t think you should blame yourself, that building is bloody jinxed.”
