In Pursuit
Officer Milo flipped on his siren, a dry smile on his face. He loved the hunt more than any other aspect of police work. He was about to get on the radio when a dispatcher broke in and informed him his wife was searching for him.
“Dispatch, I’m in pursuit,” he said.
“Officer, permission to speak freely?”
Milo pulled into traffic, “Speak freely.”
“You’re wife is a real piece of work.”
“What does she want?”
“I’ll patch her in.”
“Wait, don’t.”
Too late.
“Milo, it took far too long to get your attention. Are you trying to avoid me?”
Officer Milo decided this was the perfect moment to unload his hand. “Listen, honey. If I can get to the airport and pickup this kid, I can ensure you that we’ll have a triple-date tonight. A triple-date!”
“Triple-date? Oh. That’s just terrible. You gave me no notice. I guess I’ll find something to wear. Well, you’ll just have to get here right this instant.”
“I’m in pursuit right this moment – “
“Please don’t make this weird. Come get me, right away.“
