The Primal Beyond: Awakenings.

As I sat up looking into the eyes of the girl that had once set my stomach into butterflies, I realized, she was no longer a girl. And the wind went from my lungs.
I fell back into my pillow staring white-eyed at the ceiling, trying to breathe.
“Nurse!” Molly cried, “NURSE!”
There was a flurry of feet and a mess of hands around my head. I didn’t know what they were doing, and i was powerless to stop them.
Try as I might, i could not lift my head. I could not move my legs and my arms felt like lead.
“What’s happen..ning” I mumbled. My lips were too thick, my tongue was dry as sandpaper.
I was afraid.
“Where am I? what’s happening?” i didn’t even recognize my voice. It was as if a doppleganger had come during my sleep and stolen my voice, my identity.
I didn’t know who i was.
“Calm down, Lewis. Oh my boy. My boy is awake. Thank you Jesus!”
Jesus, indeed. She could thank me! i could hear the familiar voice in my mind as James went away.
“Noo.” a tear fell from my eye.
I was not safe anymore.
