Cinderella Re-Spun (Part 12)
Cinderella’s eyelashes fluttered and her cheeks flushed when her fingers entwined with his. Her feet moved as she had been taught earlier in the evening. One two three. One two three. One two three.
She gazed into his turquoise eyes and lost track of time, forever could have passed in that moment. His brown hair was pulled back in a short ponytail. His fine clean shirt had a small mulberry-colored speck of stain. His skin was darker than his mother’s or father’s. He must enjoy being outside. She noticed all of these things subconsciously as their movements flowed together. Many people had stopped dancing and receded like an ocean tide to watch the young couple sway to the sweet violin.
“Do you think she’ll be the one?â? asked the king from a small balcony overlooking the ballroom.
“I’m not so sure. It’s only beauty,â? said the queen.
“Hmmm.â?
The prince and Cinderella danced once and again throughout the evening. Aqua eyes locked with hers while both of their feet were trapped in unending dance.
