Knights in White Linoleum
Possibilities, plots, and worries flooded my caffeine-addled mind. Before that could get too far the thrum of the shower pulled my attention away. Lest you think poorly of my hygene, a shower is not normally a cause for distraction. But both of my roommates were out of town, and I hadn’t turned it on.
Cautiously, the electronic mystery still in hand, I crept to the hall bathroom. Echoing out of the tiled and linoleum cave came the richest baratone I had ever heard. The song was unknown to me, but its lilting melody drew me through all reason to enter the steamy enclave of cleanliness.
My heart skipped to see a familiar tunic draped over the closed toilet lid. Could it really be? That lurid part of the brain that resides in all of us directed my hand to draw back the shower curtain. My nighttime hero, a singing knight with the body of Adonis dripping heavenly water amidst the steam, gave me the most natural smile melting away all resistence.
His song came clearly, “...you’re not safe yet…“
