Amethyst Frontier: Oxyriophrine Syndrome
“I don’t think you quite understand, Doctor. Oxy is the only thing that keeps us sane. Without it, our minds slow, our bodies tire.” Vargus smiled sadly, “And we’re running out. My crew will kill for it. Refining it for smaller doses was the only way.”
“It’s not the ONLY way, Captain,” Morris assured, “we’ve had 20 years to research treatment; to ease the symptoms,”
“To ease them? Is that a joke? Have you ever seen a man who was forced by the Alliance to submit to Oxyriophine treatment? Hmm? For the good of the Alliance?” Vargus’ face twisted with anger.
Jim Morris admitted, “I’ve only seen the tapes.”
“That tapes do nothing to show the open sore the men ripped open with their own finger-nail.. the itch is like a fucking torture!” Vargus spat.
Locke’s face lit up, “You didn’t keep the Grenna alive to get you out of the Phase Wake, you used them to further refine the drug!”
Vargus swallowed; hard!
Locke continued,
“Going back to the Alliance would land you in the brig and so,”
“What choice did I have?”
