Early Bird Gets the Worm [Sweetest Story Challenge]
Lailah lay in her bed, unable to sleep. She couldn’t stop thinking about him.
She glanced at the clock. 4:02 A.M.
She lay there for two more hours, urging sleep to come. She eventually gave up.
Lailah raced down the stairs and ran the half-mile to his apartment complex.
The doorman looked at her oddly as she entered in her British-flag pajama bottoms and messy black hair.
As the elevator reached his floor, she rapped on his door loudly, knowing he wouldn’t be awake.
“Whoizzit…?” came a voice from the inside, disguised by a yawn.
“It’s Lailah, Jack, and I need to talk to you.”
The door opened slowly, revealing his disheveled blonde hair and his tired blue eyes.
“Jack, let me just say it. I love you. Please, tell me you love me a fraction of how I feel about you. Long story short, I can’t live the rest of my life without you.”
He was quiet for a very long time, just staring at her. As she began to leave brokenhearted, he said, “Finally.”
With that, they fell into each other’s arms.
