Airbud ran next to the player on the other team, nipping at his ankles. As the football spiraled through the air he bounded off the falling boy’s back and rocketed into the sky.

Airbud easily caught it in his mouth and sprinted for the end zone. The other team’s players dived at him but not a single hand touched him.

Only five yards to go now. That’s when the Giants (the other team) magically caught up to him. The players all clad in heavy plastic armor dived at Airbud, seemingly crushing him.

The crowd had seen this before, though. Airbud always escaped. Seconds passed then minutes. There was no sign of Airbud. Lenny, the kid who sucks at sports but gets to be on the team because he owns Airbud and Airbud is the best, runs over to the pile of kids who hate Airbud and begins to pull them off one by one.

At the bottom of the pile lays Airbud shaking, all four of his legs broken.

Tears fall fro everyone’s eyes as the wonder dog drifts off into doggy heaven, never to return again.
