It may be unusual to say this, but these guys can party. Apparently whenever they find a new human to join, they throw a big party in their building for the human. And finally, after all that had happened, I was having fun. It was great, talking to one another just like humans did before this whole disease. I was truly moving on. Well, getting there, one step at a time.
At one point of the party the receiving group left, making me feel quite alone. They were the only people I knew here. But they soon returned along with someone else that seemed relatively familiar to me. He looked at me and smiled, “Bree, I remember you.”
“Isaac?”
“One and only.” Everything came back to me now. Isaac was in a grade higher than me and he mysteriously disappeared. I thought he became part of the Sangsue…until now.
“So…the only humans left on earth really know how to throw a party don’t they?” Isaac casually asked. I saw Jackson come up behind us and say, “Of course. We never know which party is our last.”
