Sweetly
“Marty..Marty wake up,” hummed the deep voice. She woke up again, but refused to sit up. But suddenly she had to; Brandon stood up in the aisle.
“C’mon I’ll help you,” he said taking her arm and putting it around his shoulder. They hobbled their way off the bus, but just before they got off, Marty heard the bus driver “You take good care of her now, ya hear?”
“Yes sir,” replied Brandon’s strong voice.
Once they had gotten to the driveway, Marty stopped.
She focused on what she had to say first so she wouldn’t studder so bad, “Okay, you don’t live anywhere around here…I think. So why are you, here?”
“I wasn’t just goin leave you there after you dove in the middle of that shit for me,”
“Watch your mouth,” Marty interuppted.
He smiled and shook his head, “My bad.”
Marty started to walk up the driveway but her legs gave out and she would’ve fell to the pavement if Brandon’s arm hadn’t still been around her.
“Hey now, you just take it easy,” he said as he easily picked her up in his arms.
