Saving the Universe
The sun frowned at the small girl in his hand.
If only there were something he could do…
He slowly lifted her closer, trying to warm her against himself.
“Hey there,” he whispered, “Hey. Don’t cry…”
She looked up at him with her red, puffy eyes.
“Come on. There’s no use crying about what’s happened…”
She looked at her hands sheepishly.
“I can’t help it..” she answered, “I’m so very sad my parents are gone…”
He looked at her with sadness. Tear-stained, puffy eyes looked back at him.
A sudden ache grew larger and larger in his heart, a feeling he had only known once.
If only there were something he could do…
A small, far-fetched idea passed his mind, and it stuck and grew larger and larger.
“I’ve got it!” he shouted. “I know how to bring your parents back! I know how to bring EVERYTHING back!”
The little girl gasped with delight. “Oh, you’re wonderful, Mr. Sun! Could you really bring them back?”
He leaned closer, and whispered, “Yes, but I need your help. Now listen very closely…”
