The Writer Lets Something Embarrasing Slip

My mind went blank.

I mean, insane asylum, she’s – just – a – human – vegetable kind of blank.

I really couldn’t think, but I bleakly registered the two bodyguards sweeping past us, looking very ominous.

They soon went back to their car, and drove away, leaving no trace they’d ever been there.

And that’s when my mind snapped back into reality.

My hands seemed to remember their grip on the grocery bags, and I did the only thing a girl could do when a guy kissed her out of the blue.

I clouted him over the head with the bags fiercely, and he backed away with a curse, rubbing his head.

“What are you doing?” I’m sure my voice sounded like something between a shriek and a squeak.

“I told you to forgive me, didn’t I?” Raine said, clutching at the spot I had hit him over. “Why’d you clobber me with the grocery bag? What do you have in there, rocks?”

“No!” I angrily retorted, my cheeks flaming. “I had been saving that kiss for my first boyfriend!”

He looked up, bewildered.

Oops.
