To Come Crashing Down

I had this feeling in me that was slightly unfamiliar, but not unpleasant. I just wasn’t used to it. I had forgotten what it felt like to be so utterly euphoric! Everything was gleaming with color, as if this world had finally reached perfection. I hadn’t smiled so much since…

My mind snapped out of that memory before I could think about it. My eyes then focused on the beautiful day infront of me. I could hear a light breeze rustling fresh green leaves and the high pitched laughter that warmed my heart. I started wandering in no specific direction, with that smile still painted on my face. Almost everyone I greeted gave me a questioning look, but soon they returned my smile realizing I was cheerful rather than unstable.

I was so startled when my cell phone rang, not expecting anyone to call. When I picked up my phone and saw who was calling, my expression turned to dismay, then shock. The thought of not answering came a second too late. “Hello?”, I answered weakly.

“Are you busy?”
