Silence Ignites The Fire

I was supposed to be over it. I was supposed to forget what could have been the time of my life… His face shouldn’t make me go weak in the knees, again. His eyes should be repulsive, not mesmerizing. Those eyes.. I shouldn’t be getting butterflies in my stomach, not this time.

An unexpected thought made my frustration turn into anxiety. This was possibly my only chance of making things right, but my silence was ruining it. If I sat there a stone much longer, he would leave, and I knew that wasn’t what I wanted, not yet.

A rustling noise interrupted the silence. He had turned to face me, and I tried not to meet his gaze. “You should have listened to me. You know it would have been the best for the both of us.” he said. I was suddenly furious. It was no wonder we had ended up like this. “You think you know me better than I do? You think you know what’s best for me?! Well I know what I want, and it has nothing to do with you!” Lie. “That’s not what I meant,” he said, “I care about you.” A lie for a lie.
