Residing Dreams (Chapter 10)
I had always loved rainbows. Not only were they so beautiful and colorful, but they were also a sign of God’s promise—that He would never flood the earth again.Dad read me that story from the Bible years ago, when I was very little. It was in Genesis, chapter 9,and Dad had said that the word’genesis’meant beginning. Then he said that I was like a rainbow, because I had promise inside of me, and I was a new beginning for him.”A gift from God,”he always said.”A promise that I would have such an unbelieveable opportunity as raising a child, even though I thought it would never happen, not to someone like me.”Then I exclaimed,”What do you mean someone like you? You’re warm, loving, caring…the best dad ever!”He looked thoughtful for a moment, as if he didn’t know how to explain it.”God makes us all differently. And in life, we never know what He has in store for us. Sometimes we can’t understand why, but it’s all a part of his plan.”Shortly after I realized that a rainbow meant something more than what I had known.
