Couldn’t resist entering your own challenge, eh? But about that other idea: dude, it’s your challenge, you can enter that one too! I liked this. It’s kind of like the Les Mis song “At the End of the Day”
It’s kind of odd to be mentally ticking off the days of your life in such a bored way. I mean, if you’re gonna count, then make each day worth it!
Enough ranting, Good job on this little slice of life. i think most people go through days like these for years, never considering how many are marked off the timeline of their life.
i like this…but its so…hollow..no thats not really the right word…i think it would be such a dull and unenjoyable life if everyday felt like a countdown to the end…its just very sad that for him, thats all the lies ahead…but dont get me wrong the writing is wonderful :) oh and you are missing an “o” in this line: faltered on a heel too high
Hmm, apparently I utterly failed to get my point across. I meant to portray that it is in the seemingly small acts of genuine human kindness that we become one step closer not to our inevitable deaths but to being the enlightened, charitable beings I think we were meant to be. It’s about being one step closer to perfection of character. Sigh, better luck to me next time in being more clear and less obscure (which isn’t likely, as I do so adore being obscure and obtuse).
