very dramatic ending! I think it’s nice they called it a tie. Rematch! Also it was interesting to make them twins separated at birth… kid of asks for a sequel with some backstory :)

There is a tremendously mythic quality to this story, like in The Iowa Baseball Confederacy by W.P. Kinsella or The Natural by Bernard Malamud. Although, in reality, I think the game would have been called on darkness, and then completed at a later date. The only tie game in baseball that I’m aware of was the 2002 All Star Game, and that was just because both teams ran out of players.

I really liked this a lot… I’m not a huge baseball follower (although I watch it sometimes), but you did a nice job of not alienating those who know diddly-squat about baseball.
I really enjoyed the shocking ending! (pun slightly intentional)

Great sports moment, though the separated at birth thing was maybe a tinge over the top in a soap opera sort of way.

And if we’re rattling off baseball books, ‘Summerland’ by Michael Chabon was a fun combo of fantasy and baseball.

I envisioned several different endings, but because of the limited space I chose this one to get it all in one ficlet. Thanks for your comments.
