High Brow, Life and Death Winners
So, in terms of winners I created 3 categories, and each of the following stories is the undisputed champion of their given category.
The Message Winner, meaning the story the message of which resonated with me the most clearly and personally (so, probably the most biased of the categories) goes to ‘Threads’ by Kevin Lawver. Runner up on this category was ‘My Funeral’ by JenUnique.
The Art Winner, meaning that ficlet told in the most artful way, (being one of the harder categories to judge) goes to ‘Being the Non-Being’ by Tad Winslow for his inventive use of form to reinforce content and message. Runner up, in a hotly contested category, was ‘Fear of Living, Fear of Leaving’ by Saint Chuck.
The Story Winner, meaning the ficlet that I felt represented the most interesting story concept or telling, goes to ‘Betwixt’ by Mad As a Hatter. Just something about this whiner in purgatory amused me. Runner up was ‘Disaster Averted’ by Wyatt Aapr, even if he did use several ficlets to do it.
